The economic region Märkisch-Oderland

The rural district of Märkisch-Oderland borders on Berlin and extends as far as the Polish border. The catchment area to the East of Berlin, along Berlin's A10 motorway ring, is a dynamic economic region. A lot of new jobs have been created here over  the past few years. The commercial areas are working at  high capacity. Strausberg Airport, with its commercial area, has a metropolitan railway connection and will continue to expand considerably when Berlin's major BER airport opens.

The region further afield from Berlin is marked by agriculture, forestry and renewable energies. Boasting charming countryside in such areas as the Märkische Schweiz, the Oderbruch, the spa town of Bad Ferienwalde and Neuhardenberg Palace, as well as a well-developed cycle network, it attracts lots of tourists.

You will find further information in the brochure: “7 reasons for Märkisch-Oderland” (only available in german).
